mushrooms

Boletes mushrooms are collected in the thick oak, pine and beech forests at an altitude of up to 1500 above sea level. The mushrooms are dried at a temperature of 47 degrees Celsius, which helps to preserve all alimentary attributes and vitamins, such as Vitamin A.

dried fruits

Dried fruits are produced through drying local fruits at a temperature of 47 degrees Celsius. Fruits include apple, palm, pear, plum, and fig.

blended tea

Blended tea is a mix of different medicinal herbs that are dried and prepared. It contains red oregano, cranberry, linen flowers, and elder flowers and fruits. Tea is widely used in the area due to its curative properties.

Jam

Jams are made from local fruits, including blackberry, quince, cherry, plum, and strawberry.

Blackberry

Puka is known for the wild grown blackberries that grow in unused land, on hills and throughout the villages. Blackberry is used for the production of jam, juice, and for the Albanian spirit, rakia.

Blueberry

Blueberries are grown wild all over Puka. Blueberries contain antioxidants that protect against many illnesses and diseases.

Chestnut

Chestnuts contain high alimentary properties, and can be roasted or boiled, in powder form, and in desserts or chocolates.

 

Fair

The fair began in 2003 and occurs annually on the last Saturday of September in the city of Puka. Since its inception, the fair has grown exponentially. In 2003, there were 12 farmers from the villages of Qerret, Puka and Qelez that offered products including fruits beans, corn, and honey. Additionally, processed products from AgroPuka were sold, including jam, compost, and apple juice. There were close to 200 visitors from Puka, and about 30 that contributed to AgroPuka and the women’s groups. Sales totaled 45.000 ALL.

In 2018, the Puka fair include 88 participants; of those 52 of them were female. Close to 4,000 visitors came to the fair from surrounding areas. Of the vendors, there were 88 total participants, with 55 of them being female. Products came from Puka, Shkoder, Vau Djes, as well as other surrounding areas. Total sales were 1,300,000 ALL.
