gender equalty AND women empowerment

Agropuka staff, members and partners believe that sustainable development requires an
understanding of both women’s and men’s roles and responsibilities within the community and their relations to each other. This is known as the Gender and Development (GAD) approach.

In order to promote gender equity, equality, women’s empowerment and sustainable development in Puka Rural areas, Agropuka has created a gender policy. The Agropuka Gender Policy provides a framework for including gender perspectives in all activities of Agropuka and its stakeholders, thereby promoting the full and equal participation of men and women in the development process.

Development strategies are clearly more equitable when they consider the different needs, constraints, opportunities and priorities of both genders. Agropuka considers the development of a gender and women’s empowerment policy as a crucial component in addressing structural relationships of inequality between men and women.
